Our Process
A no obligation preliminary meeting is generally the first step, providing an opportunity to meet and establish a clear understanding of the project.
This initial meeting also allows both parties to establish whether there is a good fit, recognising the process is collaborative and relies on clear and open communication.
This discussion typically covers the site, your vision and key considerations such as budget, planning requirements and timing.
Each project is shaped through a measured and highly considered process, with each stage evolving the project seamlessly from concept through to a resolved and buildable outcome.
We remain closely involved throughout, ensuring continuity, precision and design integrity at every stage.
‘Each stage is undertaken under a separate Client–Architect Agreement, with each agreement outlining the scope and key project parameters for that stage.’
Stage 01 — Concept Design
The process begins with the development of a clear architectural direction.
At this stage, we prepare site planning, floor plans and 3D studies to explore form, spatial relationships and the overall vision for the home.
All concept work is undertaken in-house, allowing the design to be refined and tested in real time, with visualisations evolving alongside each iteration.
A strong emphasis is placed on design clarity, with concepts developed to a high level of resolution and communicated through clear and realistic visualisation. Early consideration of construction ensures the design is well resolved before progressing.
Stage 02 — Design Development & Approvals
Once the concept is established, the design is developed in greater depth.
Plans and elevations are refined, materials and architectural elements are more carefully considered, and key technical aspects of the project begin to be resolved.
As part of this stage, we undertake a preliminary review of project services — including air conditioning, plumbing and structural systems — to support coordination and buildability from an early stage.
We also recommend engaging a planning consultant to undertake an external review where appropriate, providing an additional layer of rigour prior to formal submission.
Where required, the design is then prepared for development approval, with careful coordination to ensure the architectural intent is maintained while responding to statutory requirements.
Stage 03 — Working Drawings & Coordination
This stage translates the design into a comprehensive and buildable set of construction drawings.
Detailed working drawings are prepared for pricing, approvals and construction, resolving structure, materials and critical junctions with precision.
Alongside this, we liaise with external consultants engaged by the client or builder — including planners, engineers, interior designers, building surveyors and other specialists — ensuring all inputs are coordinated and the design remains cohesive and aligned.
A high level of documentation and coordination is essential to maintaining design clarity, reducing ambiguity on site, and ensuring the built outcome reflects the original intent.
Stage 04 — Project Management
Our involvement during construction is tailored to suit each project and client.
While we always recommend maintaining an oversight role during the construction phase, the extent of our involvement can vary and is typically determined in consultation with the client, based on the complexity of the project and the desired level of engagement.
Where engaged, we assist with interpretation of documentation, review of details, and guidance on material execution and key design decisions as they arise — helping to ensure the architectural intent is carried through to the completed home.
‘Each project is approached with a commitment to clarity, restraint and enduring quality — resulting in homes that are carefully considered at every scale.’
